I Was There!

The debate on Colin Cowherd's show today was weather or not CBS showed to much of Tiger Woods. The debate was comparing Tiger to Jack Nicklaus of the 80's, the Yankees and the Bulls of 90's. These are all teams and athletes that we wanted to watch, who cares to watch the Pirates or Clippers; sorry fans but nobody wants to even admit they are fans of these teams.

A caller into the show stated that he was there in 1986 to watch Jack Nicklaus' famous shot on the 16th hole. Now this person may have been there but how many other people claim they were there. People claim they were there every time some major event happens that changed history or had to do with a major sporting event, my grandfather claimed he was at Pearl Harbor and Normandy during World War II; love you grandpa but you were in Northern Africa. Did you know that more than 100,000 people witnessed Wilt Chamberlain score 100 points but really there were only 200 people in attendance at the game played in Hershey. I wonder how many people saw Babe Ruth call his shot in 1932, I bet a lot of them saw Roger Maris hit 61 in 1961.

If you are going to claim that you witnessed an event then at least have proof, as the old saying goes if it is not written on paper then it never really happened.
